I was really impressed by Kunnai. I visited the restaurant on a Sunday afternoon with a desire to discover new tastes.
I am not a true lover of spicy cuisines or of Asian tastes, although I am always open to new.
The restaurant is not quite in the center in Bucharest or in an area full with restaurants but is easily accessible (a taxi might seem the right choice so as to also enjoy their long wine list).
Right as you enter Kunnai you get a nice feeling. Given its location, I was impressed that it was full in the afternoon and it seemed that people were enjoying their time there (prior reservation is recommended).
Coming back to main attraction here: the food…
It was absolutely delicious. The menu is well structured and has approx. 6 dishes for each category (variation of curry, seafood, pork, chicken, duck and beef).
We tried the:
Most food is really, really spicy. Even though I requested mildly spicy, it was really spicy for what i’m used to. The noddles I liked the best, the combination of green beans, onions & eggs did wonders to the beef and noodles.
As for the Royal Shrimp Cake, the combination of pork with shrimps might seem unusual, but is really worth a try.
The service was ok but no top attention to clients’ needs. There were times in which we needed to wait for some time for a water refill. As I was driving, i had no alcoholic drinks, but I appreciated their long list of Italian and French wines. They also have cocktails.
The prices are average to high but normal for what they are offering.
